The journey toward Riyadh’s bid to host the World Expo 2030 officially began today, as members of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) initiated their first in a series of workshops as part of the Enquiry Mission into Saudi Arabia’s candidacy.

The session was held in the presence of H.E. Fahd Abdulmohsen Al-Rasheed, CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), along with senior representatives from various Saudi entities. The discussions focused on Riyadh’s vision and the strong foundation driving its candidacy for the prestigious event.

H.E. Al-Rasheed emphasized that with the continuous backing from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of RCRC, combined with collaboration among stakeholders and widespread public support, Riyadh is well-positioned to deliver an exceptional World Expo in 2030.

Later in the day, the delegation met with H.E. Mohammed Al-Jadaan, Minister of Finance, who reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s full financial commitment to supporting the Riyadh Expo 2030. H.E. Al-Jadaan highlighted how the economic and financial reforms under Saudi Vision 2030 have not only accelerated growth but have also created fertile ground for transformative projects like the World Expo.

"Riyadh Expo 2030 will open numerous economic opportunities, enhance the city’s vibrancy, and further improve the quality of life for both residents and visitors," stated Al-Jadaan.

In addition to discussions around the candidacy, members of the BIE Enquiry Mission explored Saudi Arabia’s rich historical and cultural heritage during a visit to the Saudi National Museum at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center, offering them a glimpse into the Kingdom’s legacy that dates back to the 6th Century BC.

The series of workshops and cultural engagements are part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to demonstrate its preparedness and unique value proposition as the ideal host for the World Expo 2030.
