Indosnews.com — Al-Qassam Brigades and Al-Quds Brigades Target Israeli Forces as Conflict Intensifies

In a series of operations on Sunday, the military wings of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) reported significant attacks on Israeli forces in Gaza. The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced that its fighters successfully targeted an Israeli Merkava 4 tank using a Yassin-105 anti-tank rocket in the eastern al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City.

Additionally, in the same area, al-Qassam fighters detonated an anti-personnel explosive device, resulting in casualties among Israeli occupation soldiers. The exact number of fatalities and injuries remains unconfirmed, but the operation marked a significant strike against the Israeli forces.

Simultaneously, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the PIJ, reported launching a guided missile at an Israeli military barracks located within a house occupied by soldiers east of al-Tuffah. The attack on the military barracks came amid rising tensions and escalating violence in the region.

As the battles intensify, Israeli media outlet Israel Hayom reported that the Israeli military is preparing to call up additional reserve forces due to the growing number of casualties. The Israeli occupation forces have faced mounting losses, prompting concerns about troop shortages.

Military analyst Yoav Zeitun, speaking to Yedioth Ahronoth, highlighted the Israeli military's dire need for additional combat troops. Zeitun noted that Israel has activated Order 77, which extends the service of regular soldiers by an additional four months in reserve duty after completing their mandatory service. The Israeli army views this measure as a temporary fix to address a shortage of approximately 10,000 soldiers, including 7,000 combat troops. The order is expected to remain in effect until the security situation improves or new legislation is introduced.

The ongoing conflict continues to escalate, with both sides suffering significant casualties and the situation remaining volatile. The international community remains watchful as the conflict shows no signs of abating.
